Elands Bay is a town in South Africa, situated in the Western Cape Province, on the Atlantic Ocean, at 32°18′S 18°19′E. The town is located about 220 kilometres north from Cape Town. It is a major surfing location and is also noted for its caves, which have a number of rock paintings.

Elands Bay is often misspelt as Eeland's Bay, Eland Baai, Ilands Bay and Eilands Bay. The name Verlorenvlei was given by Johannes Tobias Rhenius, in 1724, meaning ‘lost valley’ or ‘lost marsh’. Verlorenvlei is home to at least 232 types of birds. Elands Bay was once just a base for fishing boats, before it became a popular surfing The farm is halfway between Dwarskersbos and Elands Bay and the nearby Verloren Vlei area is known for it's birdlife. On the beach you will find numerous breeding pairs of Black Oyster Catchers (Tobie) and their nests specially during the summer months. Elands Bay is also known for it's abundance of crayfish during the crayfish catching season.
